Come join host Rob Prior for the Creator Pro Am: Drink & Draw. All artist and writers are invited to come and compete in this live drawing and writing competition. You bring the creativity and we will take care of the rest. Scenarios and scenes will be described to the artist and writers, where you will have 1 hour to compete. Stay through to the end where one writer and one artist will be selected to win amazing prizes such as Corel PainterX3, Artograph lightpad and a Canson prize pack. The Art of Saturday Morning Cartoon Production with Animator/Director Tom Cook Wizard World is proud to present world-renown animator Tom Cook (Tarzan; Flash Gordon; He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; She-Ra Princess of Power) to Richmond! This panel will be a demonstration of the steps taken to bring an idea from script to screen. Cook will begin with a short story of how he became an animator back in the late 1970s and then describe the different departments in an animation studio and what they do to move the development of the cartoon forward. Tom will have a few scenes he has worked on over the years on video and then will open the floor for questions about either the process or any other question you may have. So come out and see first-hand how your favorite cartoons were made!

A panel to bring attention to and address body shaming, racism, negativity, bullying etc in the cosplay community and how we can all work to overcome it.

On the 30th anniversary of the debut of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman—also the founder of Tundra Publishing and editor/publisher of Heavy Metal magazine—presents a slide show about his amazing life and career, and then answers your questions! Danny Fingeroth (The Rough Guide to Graphic Novels) moderates.

In Friday's Ingress panel discussion we covered the basics of the ongoing global struggle between the factions. In this session we will talk about the more advanced layers within the Ingress world. Join seasoned local agents as we discuss local area control, special regional in-game events called XM anomalies, and moving tokens (artifacts) across great distances using the entire global agent network. We'll also touch on the vast amounts of planning and coordination required to successfully execute complicated local and global operations.

Giancarlo Esposito is a celebrated television, film and stage actor whose acting career spans over several decades. Join zombie guru Aaron Sagers, Editor At Large of Blastr.com and zombie fiend, and other experts as he discusses the important Zombie-versary, and why the era was so important. 3:00 - 3:45PM PERSPECTIVE GRIDS 101 WITH ERYK DONOVAN (ROOM E10A)
Starting with a basic breakdown of hanging figures on a horizon line, artist Eryk Donovan will address basic methods of using Perspective Grids to compose a comic panel and demonstrate how to use them. A short Q&A will be held to answer any questions or to clarify points of the demonstration. Attendees can bring paper, pencil, and a ruler to take notes if they'd like!

3:30 – 4:15PM WRITING WITH THE 3 ACT STRUCTURE (ROOM E10D)
Do you have an idea for a comic, novel, or film to tell but aren't sure how to get started? Come out Saturday and together we'll learn how the 3 Act Structure functions in modern storytelling and create a story or two of our own! International Comics and Literature teacher Michael Ferrara is back from Istanbul to help you tell your own story.

75 years ago, as fateful events that would lead to the outbreak of World War II in September 1939 were coming together in Europe, the U.S.A. was experiencing, in the same year, an explosion of popular culture. In 1939, Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27; Timely (later Marvel) Comics released Marvel Comics #1, showcasing the first Marvel superheroes, Sub-Mariner and the Human Torch; and Hollywood produced classic films including The Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind and Stagecoach. Discussing historical and cultural factors that made that year so important is a panel including Tom DeHaven (Our Hero: Superman on Earth; Derby Dugan’s Depression Funnies), Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson (granddaughter and biographer of DC Comics founder Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson) and pop culture expert Aaron Sagers. In 1939, Marvel Comics #1 debuted, unleashing The Sub-Mariner and The Human Torch on the world, and launching what would come to be known as the Marvel Universe.
