Game of Thrones takes its story from many influences: the War of the Roses, King Arthur, Norse and Celtic myth as well as modern classics. Will the story end like Lord of the Rings or completely invert it? How about Ragnarok with its three-year Winter of the Winds and Winter of the Wolf? Pop culture author Valerie Estelle Frankel examines the sources and predicts the likeliest Game of Thrones ending. By tracing the prophecies of the early books, which correspond directly to the steps of the heroine’s journey, Daenerys’s surprising path becomes clear as she will “wake the dragon” and harness a surprising magic. Is Jon Snow destined to be her lover, her nemesis, her sacrifice, or all three? And what of Bran? Or Tyrion? What does Varys really want? In the end, the key to salvation lies in the forgotten lore hidden at Oldtown and Dragonstone, in the words of the Faceless Men and the Red Priests. For the endless winter is dark and full of terrors…and it’s coming. No show spoilers, but lots of speculation.

Sure, it’s fun to write and draw comics. It’s even more fun when someone pays you to do it. But most writers and artists weren’t business majors and have little idea how to negotiate the sometimes-treacherous waters of deal-making in comics and ancillary media like movies and TV. Writer Steven Grant (2 Guns; Whisper) gives some hard-learned pointers on how to deal with the business end of comics, including discussing how the Denzel Washington/Mark Wahlberg 2 Guns movie was adapted from his graphic novel (drawn by Mateus Santolouco). Plus: Steven will answer your questions on the topic! Moderated by Danny Fingeroth (How to Create Comics from Script to Print).
