Accomplished comics writers Steven Grant (2 Guns; Whisper), Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets; Palomar), Jaime Hernandez (Love and Rockets; Penny Century), and Chelle Dey (Shenanigans) show and tell you how to write comics and graphic novels, going from initial idea to outline to script to finished story. Plus, the panelists will answer your questions about both the creative and business sides of the comics writing profession, including how to find an artist to work with (hint: a comics convention is the number one place!) and how to write exciting dialogue!

4:00 – 4:45PM EMPOWERING WOMEN IN FANDOM (ROOM S233)
This panel aims to address the positive aspects of being a woman in fandom. Women can often be marginalized within the geek community. We will focus on the empowering aspects of being a girl geek and part of a larger wonderful community. The panel will examine women in fandom as a growing positive, powerful cultural and commercial influence. The panelists will offer personal experiences, insights, and advice in the following subject areas; cosplay, gaming, fanfiction, social media, and safety. The panelists will include female gamers, bloggers, cosplayers, and entrepreneurs in the fandom world.

4:30 – 5:15PM BUILDING YOUR CREATIVE PLATFORM: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SELF-PROMOTION (ROOM S231)
As an artist, writer, producer, designer, actor, musician or creator, self-promotion is an important part of building a career. However, if poorly executed, self-promotion can do more harm than good. How is the conventional wisdom wrong? What are the more advisable but underrated and neglected approaches? Hear from Genese Davis (The Holder's Dominion, MMORPG.com) Brian Rouff (Imagine Communications) Maxwell Alexander Drake (The Genesis of Oblivion Saga, Everquest Next) and Stephen Murray (The Chapel of Eternal Love) discuss this pivotal topic. Be it from cars to comics, books to Barbies, or Zebras to Zuul, we wanna talk about your fandom. Join Wizard World’s Damian Beurer, and Jessica Merizan will tell you everything you need to know about dressing up in costumes and going out in public. From wardrobe malfunctions to crazy fans, to how to construct your own costumes and even how to go to the bathroom (you know, in costume), this cosplay squad will give you the inside skinny on the ultimate in spandex fandom. We’ll share photos, take questions from the audience, and hopefully inspire you to join in!

All artists and writers are invited to come and compete in this live drawing and writing competition! You bring the creativity and we will take care of the rest! Scenarios and scenes will be described to the artist and writers, where you will have 1 hour to compete. Gilbert Hernandez and Jaime Hernandez (and their brother, Mario) launched the alternative comics era with their epoch-defining series Love and Rockets. In the years since, the brothers have each produced groundbreaking work both under and outside the L & R umbrella. Today, Gilbert and Jaime will discuss their work and careers with Steven Grant (2 Guns; The Avengers) and with the audience.

There are mining companies, pharmaceuticals and more heading to the moon but NASA is doing the heavy lifting, from there we go to an asteroid, then a space station on the way to Mars, next Europa, Titan, the many frozen worlds, Alpha Centauri System and Gliese 667C a system filled with Earth-like worlds. True plans plus a little imagination.

12:30 – 1:15PM ONE-ON-ONE WITH “BREAKING BAD’S” R.J. MITTE (ROOM S219)
Actor, film producer, and activist R.J. Mitte first burst onto the scene in his groundbreaking role as Walter "Flynn" White Jr. on AMC’s critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad. The Screen Actors Guild named Mitte as the spokesman for actors with disabilities and he is the representative of "Inclusion in the Arts and Media of Performers with Disabilities”. The Art of Saturday Morning Cartoon Production with Animator/Director Tom Cook Wizard World is proud to present world-renown animator Tom Cook (Tarzan; Flash Gordon; He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; She-Ra Princess of Power) to Chicago! This panel will be a demonstration of the steps taken to bring an idea from script to screen. Cook will begin with a short story of how he became an animator back in the late 1970s and then describe the different departments in an animation studio and what they do to move the development of the cartoon forward. Tom will have a few scenes he has worked on over the years on video and then will open the floor for questions about either the process or any other question you may have. So come out and see first-hand how your favorite cartoons were made!

B.J. Britt is best known for his role as Antoine Triplett from the ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fans may also recognize him from Being Mary Jane, Grimm, The Vampire Diaries, and One Tree Hill! Now he joins his fans for a special Q&A on the Wizard World show stage!

Meet the original Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank and check out his new CONtv series “My Morphing Life” in this exciting Wizard World panel. 2:30 – 3:15 TBS’ “KING OF THE NERDS” XANDER JEANNERET & ABC’S “THE QUEST” BONNIE GORDON MEET & GREET – FREE EVENT (ROOM S228)
Bonnie Gordon is a voiceover artist, singer, and reality personality. Most recently, she was a contestant on the new hit ABC fantasy/reality show, The Quest. Bonnie’s most recent voiceover credits include anime and video games such as: Ikki Tousin (Soujin); Akiba’s Trip (PS3); Guided Fate Paradox PS3 (Frunetti/Misery/Godmother); Demon Gaze for PSVita (Comit, Chronos, and Pluto) She will be starring in a new documentary entitled “FANGIRLS” (with popular geek girl personalities like Happy Hobbits and The Hillywood Show) – that focuses on being a geek girl in a male dominated geek culture.
Xander Jeanneret is an actor, voiceover artist, and reality personality. Xander was a contestant on the TBS show, King of the Nerds (Season 2), and returned as a host for Behind The Scenes of Season 3. He also provided the voice of the "Announcer" on the hit indie fighting game, Divekick. Xander speaks fluent Japanese, and spent 2008 living, going to school, and hitchhiking throughout Japan. Xander provided the English voice for the main character of "Shogo" in the live action Japanese movie The Final Judgement, and for the old man "Delani" in the anime The Mystic Laws. He co-hosts and produces the successful web show Under The Table, which combines his love for Tabletop Gaming, drinking, and comedy. In addition to his love of gaming and all things Japanese, Xander is also a gay man living within nerd culture. On King of the Nerds, he was referred to as the "Gaymer", and loves to speak on the topics of the LGBTQ within the media.

Xander and Bonnie are also Live-Action Role Players, and are currently featured in the ensemble fantasy show, Dungeon Master (http://www.facebook.com/DungeonMasterShow), based in Los Angeles. This show has been performing for over 30 years, and 15 years in Los Angeles.

2:30 – 3:15PM WHAT HAPPENED TO THE UPPER-MID-BUDGET BLOCKBUSTER? (ROOM S229)
Remember when we used to go to the movies every summer not only to see sequels and comic-book movies, which are great, but we also went to see movies based on great new ideas and unknown properties, all of 'em presented with what we'll call an "upper mid-budget" amount of money? Remember movies like TOTAL RECALL? Or ROBOCOP? Or DIE HARD, before it spawned countless lesser sequels and imitators? Or even THE MATRIX. Of course, we all love comic books, but why can't a movie as inventive and entertaining as EDGE OF TOMORROW (which was based on a manga!) succeed in today's marketplace?

Ken Lashley has been drawing comics for over 15 years. He is currently doing covers for DC comics on such titles as Superman, Superboy, Earth 2, Suicide Squad, Ravagers, Talon, Batwing, Team Seven and Blackhawks. Ken drew the Villains Month issue of Zod as well as the hologram covers for the Solomon Grundy and Desaad issues. Ken recently drew the 38-page Superman Doomed issue #1, the New 52 version of the classic Superman-Doomsday battle. Today, Ken speaks about his amazing career and shows you how he draws characters and stories! Moderator Rob Prior is an accomplished creator in his own right, having drawn comics for Marvel, DC, Image, and many other companies.
