75 years ago, in 1940, as the Nazi conquest of Europe continued and the Battle of Britain raged, the United States watched from the sidelines while instituting the first peacetime draft. At the same time, the world of comics was experiencing an incredible sustained period of invention, as The Joker, Robin, Green Lantern, the Flash, Hawkman, the Spirit, Catwoman, and Captains America and Marvel all debuted! (Not to mention the debuts of pop culture icons Bugs Bunny, and Brenda Starr, and classic movies Fantasia and The Great Dictator!) Showing and discussing historical and cultural factors that made that year so important is a panel including Mike Sangiacomo (Cleveland Plain Dealer), Tony Isabella (Black Lightning), Tom DeFalco (Spider-Man),Aaron Sagers (ParanormalPopCulture.com) and Danny Fingeroth (Disguised as Clark Kent: Jews, Comics and the Creation of the Superhero).

Objective: To spark versed open dialogue on the necessity of diverse depiction within the content of popular culture properties and the support for continued efforts towards this presentation of the “new normal” to reflect the society that ideas are pulled from.

6:30 – 7:15PM DECADES OF THE DEAD: A ZOMBIE-VERSARY WITH AARON SAGERS (ROOM 5)
Ten years ago, the dead came back to life in a big way, and the zombie genre has been shambling along ever since. From "28 Days Later," "Shaun Of The Dead," "The Zombie Survival Guide," "The Walking Dead" comic, "Dawn of the Dead" remake and more, 2003/04 was a period that kickstarted the current wave of undead heads. Join zombie guru Aaron Sagers, (Travel Channel host, Paranormal Paparazzi; Editor At Large of NBC Universal's Blastr), and other experts as he discusses the important Zombie-versary, and why the era was so important. 7:00 – 7:45PM COSTUMES + PLAYING = COSPLAY! SO WHAT DOES THAT ACTUALLY MEAN? (ROOM 4)
Join Wizard World’s Damian Beurer, Knightmage, and Griffin Cosplay who will tell you everything you need to know about dressing up in costumes and going out in public. From wardrobe malfunctions to crazy fans, to how to construct your own costumes and even how to go to the bathroom (you know, in costume), this cosplay squad will give you the inside skinny on the ultimate in spandex fandom. We’ll share photos, take questions from the audience, and hopefully inspire you to join in!

8:30 – 10:30PM CREATOR PRO AM: DRINK & DRAW
All artist and writers are invited to come and compete in this live drawing and writing competition! You bring the creativity and we will take care of the rest! Scenarios and scenes will be described to the artist and writers, where you will have 1 hour to compete. Stay through to the end where one writer and one artist will be selected to win amazing prizes such as Corel PainterX3, Artograph lightpad and a Canson prize pack. 11:30 – 12:15NASA AND THE SCIENCE OF SUPERMAN (ROOM 1)
Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound." These are just a few of Superman's incredible abilities, thanks to his origin as a 'strange visitor from another planet.' From his 1938 creation by Clevelanders Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the 'man of tomorrow' has been rooted in science fiction. Superman's origin and abilities will be contrasted with science fact underlying some of NASA's amazing accomplishments. Join a panel of researchers from the NASA Glenn Research Center (located in Cleveland) for a fun and insightful discussion including fan Q&A.

Everybody wants to break into the comics industry, but what does it take to stay in. From navigating conventions to being a self-publisher and working with small publishers to networking, take some advice from Thom Zahler (Love and Capes, My Little Pony) and Marc Sumerak (Franklin Richards, Monster High).

11:30 – 12:15PM SPOTLIGHT ON ROB LIEFELD (ROOM 4)
Rob Liefeld is an American comic book writer, illustrator, and publisher, a prominent artist in the 1990s. In the early ‘90s, self-taught artist Liefeld became prominent due to his work on Marvel Comics' The New Mutants and later X-Force. In 1992, he and several other popular Marvel illustrators left the company to found Image Comics, which started a wave of comic books owned by their creators rather than by publishers. The first book published by Image Comics was Rob's Youngblood #1. His creations Deadpool, Cable, Youngblood and X-Force helped change the comic book landscape and remain staples of both Marvel and Image comics. Danny Fingeroth (Superman on the Couch: What Superheroes Really Tell Us About Ourselves and Our Society) moderates.

Ian Somerhalder is best known as the supernatural blood-sucking Salvatore brother in The CW’s Vampire Diaries. Join professional time travelers Terry and Oliver Holler as they take you BACK through their incredible journey to find one's Density, then inspire you forward into the FUTURE! Terry and Oliver Holler are theatre veterans who, using inspiration from their favorite movie 'Back to the Future', hand-built their own DeLorean Time Machine. They travel the states (and several other countries!) promoting the official website 'BackToTheFuture.com' and raising awareness and funding for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

The Art of Saturday Morning Cartoon Production with Animator/Director Tom Cook Wizard World is proud to present world-renown animator Tom Cook (Tarzan; Flash Gordon; He-Man and the Masters of the Universe; She-Ra Princess of Power) to Cleveland! This panel will be a demonstration of the steps taken to bring an idea from script to screen. Cook will begin with a short story of how he became an animator back in the late 1970s and then describe the different departments in an animation studio and what they do to move the development of the cartoon forward. Tom will have a few scenes he has worked on over the years on video and then will open the floor for questions about either the process or any other question you may have. So come out and see first-hand how your favorite cartoons were made!

Hungarian ice cream truck driver Ilyia Zjarsky goes hiking one day and discovers the animal spirit of the most powerful creature mankind has never known. Apama The Undiscovered Animal recently won 2014 breakout book of the year on Comic Nerds Unite. Writers Milo Miller and Ted Sikora explain how this spin-off series of their independent film Hero Tomorrow has taken on a life of its own. Learn how Cleveland’s streets and residents are woven into the fabric of this offbeat series as the creators describe their process from concept to Kickstarter to print.

The year 2015 marks the first year since 1960 that there are no cartoons being shown on network TV on Saturday Mornings. Come and celebrate the 55 year run of Saturday Morning Cartoons as we explore the scheduling and hundreds of great cartoons that we all grew up with... learn a bit about the history of cartoons and see if you can find a few favorites of yours that have been lost in your memory banks. This will be a fast moving interactive panel hosted by Hanna-Barbera and Filmation Studios Animator/Director Tom Cook as he references most all of the cartoons that graced the Saturday Morning schedule from 1960 until the early 1990s... prepare your minds for 45 minutes of Nostalgic Cartoon Memories and get ready to say "Hey... I remember that one".

The first comic book Joyce Brabner ever published ended up in Federal Court in Atlanta, GA because the Department of Defense considered it a “threat to national security.” (Her side won.) In November, she released her latest non-fiction comic: Second Avenue Caper. She has several more graphic novels due out next year and is working again with her friend and collaborator Alan Moore on a new project. Joyce is also slowly releasing the unpublished works of her late husband, Harvey Pekar. Artist and photographer Danielle Batone, to whom Harvey and Joyce were legal guardians, will also be on the panel, which is moderated by Danny Fingeroth (The Rough Guide to Graphic Novels).
