From his 1938 creation by Clevelanders Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the 'man of tomorrow' has been rooted in science fiction. Superman's origin and abilities will be contrasted with science fact underlying some of NASA's amazing accomplishments.

Back in the 1930s, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created the first version of Superman while students at Cleveland's Glenville High School. In that time, the Man of Steel has become one of the most recognizable figures in the world and the cornerstone of a new mythology. Now, eighty years later, the city of Cleveland will honor Siegel and Shuster with a statue recognizing that great achievement. The panel will review the latest news on the project and the long journey to make that dream a reality.

Guests will be invited to share and debate their side of the Super Hero Registration Act. The panel will allow guests to express their views and show why they have decided to join the side they have. Names will be taken upon entry of the panel, and then drawn throughout to allow each guest a fair chance to speak. This is meant to be a fun way for fans to get into the action of the upcoming movie Civil War and live out the debates their favorite characters had. It is also a chance for those new to the Marvel world to hear about the two sides and it may help them know who to side with in the end.

To ship or not to ship? That is the question that faces many superhero fans when it comes to social media. Television journalist Laura Hurley and social media maestra Corinne Huntley will tackle everything from the online vocabulary of shipping to why wanting a little love along with the action isn't a bad thing for superhero series.

English TV actor, thespian and film director, Matt Smith, is joining Wizard World for an inside look into his journey as actor. Best known for his portrayal of the wibbly-wobbly Doctor in the BBC's Doctor Who, Matt Smith has not only left his indelible mark on the 50-year-old legacy, but also taught us that bow ties and fish sticks with custard are cool. Smith began carrying the mantel of Time Lord back in 2009 as the youngest Doctor in the show's history, and just retired his sonic screwdriver during the sentimental and heartfelt Christmas Special episode this past December. Today, as a lead-up to March’s worldwide celebration of comics and graphic novels known as “Will Eisner Week,” comics and pop culture experts Dr. Samantha Baskind (Art, English and Jewish Studies professor at CSU; co-editor of The Jewish Graphic Novel: Critical Approaches), Dr. Brad Ricca (instructor at Case Western Reserve and author of Super Boys: The Amazing Adventures of Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster—the Creators of Superman) and Danny Fingeroth (longtime editor of Spider-Man comics; author of Disguised as Clark Kent: Jews, Comics and the Creation of the Superhero) conduct a freewheeling conversation about Jews, comics, superheroes, “regular guy” protagonists, and the distinct, indelible role that Cleveland has played in the history of mainstream and independent comics.
