|Party On! Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con Thursday, Friday and Saturday After Dark|
The fun doesnít stop when the doors close each night at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con. Fans can party on into the night at multiple fun gatherings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
On Thursday from 8 p.m. to close itís the Sci-Fi Explosion at PhilaMOCA (531 N. 12th St.). Join master of evil Skeletor, writer/comics historian Chris Cummins and some very special guests for an unforgettable evening of live performance, trivia and carefully curated video clips showcasing the weirder world of science fiction. From a look at Robocopís secret past as a chicken salesman to an exploration of actual letters people have written to E.T. and beyond, the Sci-Fi Explosion will help kickstart this yearís Wizard World festivities into high gear. Entry is $10, for ages 18 and up.
For movie buffs, itís the world famous Doug Benson Movie Interruption, part of the Awesome Fest summer festival. Comedian Doug Benson hosts a 30th Anniversary screening of REVENGE OF THE NERDS. Curtis Armstrong (Booger) and other cast members will join Doug from the front row, performing a live comedy show as they riff on one of the great nerd classics of all time. Located at the Trocadero Theatre, 1003 Arch Street. Entry is $20, for ages 21 and up.
Then on Friday form 7:30-9:30 p.m., the Wizard World Creator Drink & Draw follows a full day at the Con. All artists and writers are invited to join host Rob Prior to compete in this live drawing and writing competition. You bring the creativity and we will take care of the rest. Scenarios and scenes will be described to the artist and writers, where you will have 1 hour to compete. Stay through to the end where one writer and one artist will be selected to win amazing prizes such as Corel PainterX3, Artograph lightpad and a Canson prize pack. Additional prizes will be given throughout the night brought to you by Corel, Canson, Royal Talens and Artograph. Located at PhilaMOCA, 531 N 12th St. Free with Wizard World wristband, for 21+ only.
Friday frolicking continues with Draculaís Ball featuring AUTHOR & PUNISHER and IRIS at The Trocadero, from 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. Bands, DJs, dancers and vendors come together for Dracula's Ball, one of Philadelphia's leading nightlife events for the past sixteen years. On Friday, June 20th, walk just down the block to the Trocadero Theatre, where you'll see live bands Iris (electronic pop, from Texas) and Carfax Abbey. Watch international celebrity bellydancer Samantha Diaz glide across the stage of this historically certified dance hall, and show off your own moves with 2 DJs in 2 rooms. Tickets are $15 at the door with a wizard world wristband, $19 without. All ages welcome, must be over 21 with valid photo ID to drink.
Two other Friday evening events will take place for Wizard World attendees, including Chronicles of Sound, Triforce Quartet and DJ Cutman at MILKBOY (1100 Chestnut St.) from 8:30 - close and Costume Beer Pong at Field House, 1150 Filbert St., from 7-10 p.m.
Saturday Nightís All Right For Partying with two fun events, both beginning at 9 p.m. In The Return of Comic Strip, burlesque beauties bare all in a Wizard World-themed extravaganza! Comic books, video games, TV shows, these ladies will hit all of the essential nerd bases in this feature-length live strip show. Featuring Liberty Rose, Hayley Jane, Minnie Tonka, Dottie Riot, and NYC cosplay star Stella Chuu! Hosted by comedian Ben Fidler. Located at PhilaMOCA, 531 N 12th St. $15 admission, 18+.
Finally, itís the topper to all Wizard World shows, the Wizard World After Party. Do you like to dance? Do you like music? Just because the show floor is closed doesnít mean the party skips a beat. Freshen up, change your digs and head on over to the Official Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con After Party at The TROCADERO (1003 Arch St.). Come rock out to Peelander-Z all night long.
