One of numerous independent, but similarly minded, fan groups, Browncoats of New York City is dedicated to Joss Whedon’s television series Firefly, and it’s subsequent follow up movie, Serenity. Since it’s inception, Browncoats of New York City has not only worked to promote Firefly, such as aiding in official guerrilla marketing campaign for Serenity, they also promote and raise funds for the charity Equality Now, which seeks to end violence and discrimination to women around the world.
