Nick Runge

Nick Runge is full-time freelance illustrator. He is a painter and comic/concept artist. His professional illustration career began in late 2003. While working with writer Mike Baron on several educational comic properties, the comic book field began to open up.

2005 and 2006 brought with it penciling and inking duties on several small titles with Image and other companies, alongside Baron. In 2007, Nick began working for IDW as a cover artist on the Badger comic. Since then, he's drawn and painted over 50 covers for IDW and other companies, including titles such as G.I. Joe, Terminator, Angel, Star Trek, Fallen Angel, and Ghostbusters. In 2008, it was cover work and monthly interior pencils for Angel: After the Fall that kept him busy.

In 2009, Nick penciled a Superman Story called Man of Snow for the DC Universe Holiday Special. Boom! Studios also hired Nick to do variant covers for the Farscape- Scorpius line (covers released in 2010).

2010 brought more Ghostbusters cover work, including the GB Valentine's Day issue, the GB 4th of July special, and the Halloween GB special, written by Peter David. Late in 2010, Nick began more IDW cover work on Angel (#39-44), and this year has brought with it Spike covers, and a Ghostbusters ongoing series from IDW. 2011 has also included concept work for Hasbro and movie poster work for films.

Hand painted illustrations, covers and commissions are quickly becoming the main type of art Nick does, along with pencils, inks and covers for a graphic novel titled Cockatoo News about WW2 New Guinea, to be released in 2012.

Nick currently resides in Denver, CO.
