|Morena Baccarin returns this fall in the Emmy Award winning Showtime drama “Homeland,” starring as the bereaved-but-moving-on widow of a U.S. Marine, long presumed dead in Iraq. When he turns up alive and returns home – a war hero, but under increasingly suspicious circumstances – her life, long mired in grief, also becomes confused, paranoid and chaotic. |
Baccarin was born in Rio de Janeiro, and at 7, moved with her family to New York. She attended the prestigious Juilliard School, where she was featured in a number of theatrical productions including MARY STUART, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST and LOVE’S LABOURS LOST. After graduating, she worked on stage and in film before moving to Los Angeles.
Shortly after her arrival in Hollywood, Morena caught the eye of writer/ director Joss Whedon, who cast her as a series regular in the critically acclaimed “Firefly” as well as in its big-screen adaptation, “Serenity.” From there, she was a sought-after guest star in both drama and comedy series, and then landed a starring role in the TNT series “Heartland,” opposite Treat Williams.
Most recently Baccarin wrapped on the comedy Old Days, starring alongside Nick Swardson and Michael Rosenbaum. If you have yet to catch up on “Homeland” you would surely recognize Baccarin as the face of ABC’s “V,” in which she starred as the leader of The Visitors – a beautiful woman most of the time, but a nasty-looking alien lizard thing when she was crossed. More recently, Morena reprised her acclaimed role as Erica Flynn in the wildly popular CBS show “The Mentalist”. Keeping busy this fall; Baccarin made a guest appearance on the award winning series, “The Good Wife.”
Her “Homeland” castmates – Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin – have yet to report sightings of a tail.
