Matthew Chojnacki is a writer focusing on pop art, film, and music from Cleveland, Ohio. Chojnacki was named "Best Author / 2015" by Cleveland Scene Magazine.
His current book, Alternative Movie Posters II: More Film Art from the Underground illustrates the underground film art movement through 200 one-sheets from 100+ designers and 20 countries. The book is a sequel to volume one, which was featured in publications including The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, USA Today, The Huffington Post, Entertainment Weekly, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Verge, HorrorHound, and Fangoria. It also made several year-end best of lists, including The Daily Beast, Under the Radar, and The A.V. Club.
His first book, the award-winning Put the Needle on the Record: The 1980s at 45 Revolutions Per Minute, is a collection of vinyl record sleeves from the 1980s, coupled with original commentary from over 125 musicians, designers and photographers. Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters wrote the book's foreword, and Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran the afterword. The book was featured in Rolling Stone, NME, Alternative Press, and additional publications.
Matthew will next appear in (and is the Associate Producer for) the upcoming film poster art documentary Twenty-Four by Thirty-Six.
