Marcelo Vignali trained as an illustrator at Otis Parsons School of Design, and began his career as a commercial artist in 1985 doing black and white illustrations for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate; during which his illustrations were featured in 56 newspapers across the United States.
In 1987 Marcelo began a career in television animation, two years later Marcelo would establish a relationship with the Walt Disney Company that would span well over a decade for both feature animation and their theme parks. He's worked on such films as, Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, Atlantis and Brother Bear, and also helped to create Disneyland's Toontown and Roger Rabbit's Car-Toon Spin attraction.
In 2003 Marcelo began working at Sony Pictures Animation on such films as Open Season, Surf's Up, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
During his career in Animation Marcelo has continued working as a freelance illustrator; having illustrated gaming cards for Wizards of the Coast and World of Warcraft.
Marcelo is currently working at Sony Pictures Animation as a production designer on Hotel Transylvania.
