Kirk Kushin is the writer/creator of the comic series, OZopolis (illustrated by Gonzalo Martinez). The story is an all-ages comic continuation of the original OZ series by L. Frank Baum. OZopolis presents the classical fairyland in a fresh new light, but stays true to the spirit of the original novels. This well received series has met with critical praise and Kushin will be one of the guests of honor at the 47th annual OZ themed celebration, Winkie Con 2011.
Kushin's previous comic book credits include the critically acclaimed graphic novel Super Teen*Topia (also illustrated by Gonzalo Martinez) which is a John Hughes inspired take on super powered teenagers in the suburbs. The original series was published by Alias and then later collected by Forcewerks. Kushin also created the comic series B.A.B.E. FORCE (illustrated by Diego Baretto), a Get Smart meets Charlie's Angels send up of pop culture. The B.A.B.E FORCE series had three publishers, Comic's Conspiracy, Amryl Entertainment and Forcewerks. In addition to the main series, B.A.B.E. FORCE mini-series written by Kushin include; Back To School, Jurassic Trailer Park, American Idyll and Dr. Chaos Comic Cornucopia.
Kirk Kushin is based out of Southern California where he is an award-winning producer/director of TV commercials. He is currently working on the next volume of OZopolis with Gonzalo Martinez. They will also be contributing to a new OZ Anthology to be published by Hungry Tiger Press this summer.
