In his twenty six year wrestling career, Mick Foley has performed for several wrestling promotions, including WWE, WCW, ECW, Ring of Honor and TNA. Early in his career, Foley embraced the ring persona “Cactus Jack” as he fought his way through the UWF, CWA, World Class Championship Wrestling and Tri-State Wrestling while battling Don Muraco, Eric Embry and Eddie Gilbert.
In the early 90s, Foley brought “Cactus Jack” to WCW, where he feuded with Van Hammer, Abdullah the Butcher, Sting and Vader. It was during his many matches with Vader that Foley earned the reputation of a hardcore wrestler, including an infamous match in Germany that cost Foley his ear. Later, given the choice of wrestling for the tag team titles with Kevin Sullivan or reattaching the ear, Foley choose to fight and won his only WCW gold.
After his WCW stint, Foley went to ECW to face The Sandman, Shane Douglas, Tommy Dreamer and the original hardcore legend, Terry Funk.
In 1996, Foley jumped to the WWE where he debuted his second ring persona: Mankind. His first feud was against The Undertaker, which led to series of unpredictably violent matches, including a spot in which The Undertaker threw Foley off the top of a steel cage during the first ever Hell in a Cell match.
Later in his WWE stint, Foley unveiled a third persona: Dude Love and had memorable matches with Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, Triple H, The Rock and the British Bulldog. Foley went on to win the WWE World Championship three times and was the first ever Hardcore champion. During the peak of his career, Foley’s wrestling life was documented in the film BEYOND THE MAT.
After retiring from active competition, Foley took on the role of WWE Commissioner for several months before making sporadic appearances during the ensuing years. Eventually returning to the ring, Foley engaged in unforgettable rivalries with Ric Flair, Vince McMahon and Edge. Foley also served as the play-by-play announcer on SMACKDOWN.
In 2008, Foley left the WWE to join TNA where he won his fourth World Championship as well as the TNA Legends Championship while facing off against Sting, Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash.
Outside of wrestling, Foley is a multiple-time New York Times bestselling writer. He will also be featured in BLOODSTAINED MEMOIRS, which is a new wrestling documentary currently in the works.
