Wizard World Toronto Comic Con recently partnered with the Toronto Star to help support and showcase local amateur artists in the first Wizard World Toronto Comic Con Art Contest. The amount of talent on display was impressive, and ultimately the blue-ribbon panel of judges, including Greg Horn, Mike Deodato Jr. and Ken Lashley, selected two entries as co-winners.
Alex Novitski of Toronto and Steve Morton of Brampton will both receive an Artist Alley table at this weekend’s Wizard World Toronto Comic Con, where they will meet the professional artists and display their respective winning works.
Novitski describes his piece, a strip entitled “After School,” as “...a simple story from my wife’s school time.”
Morton says that his work, “Silent Scream,” “...serve[s] as metaphor for feeling bogged down (strapped down) and truly on one’s own. Upon reflection is the eventual release of emotion.”
