(Artist - Vague but Potent; A Member of Two Tribes: The Real Life Story of a Jewish Native American)
Emily Bowen Cohen, a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, has worked as a freelance artist for fifteen years. She began her career in Los Angeles as an animator for television, but left the lightbox behind to create commissioned oil paintings for a show biz clientele.
Her minicomic, Vague but Potent, recounts memories from her childhood in Oklahoma. She is currently writing a graphic memoir called A Member of Two Tribes: The Real Life Story of a Jewish Native American. Excerpts from the book were part of Columbia University’s comic seminar, TENT. They are also included in the curriculum at the University of Oklahoma. Please take a look at www.memberoftwotribes.com!
