Dan DavisDan Davis has been a cartoonist all his life—well at least from the time he was 10 years old and received an original Alley Oop daily strip from creator V.T. Hamlin. “Holding that strip, seeing the handmade pen strokes, and realizing for the first time that one could make a living by writing and drawing cartoons changed my life. I knew there and then that that was what I wanted to do. I started drawing my own strips right away and haven’t stopped!”

Since that time Dan has worked on many comic strip and comic book characters that include Batman, Superman, The Simpsons, Scooby-Doo, SpongeBob Squarepants, Blondie, The Phantom, and even Alley Oop! “That was of course a real thrill and very satisfying. Nothing is ever better than the comics you enjoyed as a kid. So it was really completing a circle to get to write and draw some Alley Oop strips.”

His work in comics has also lead to many licensing art assignments such as illustrating the Harry Potter Activity Books that have been released coinciding with the last 6 movies, and full color children’s books featuring a familiar cartoon character he’s also drawn for comics, Scooby-Doo.

Currently he is the regular series inker on Batman Brave and The Bold. “That’s a dream assignment for me. I’ve always loved the animated style of superhero work and what’s better than Batman?”

And a collection of some of his own humor comic strips “Moon-O” is soon to be an App at the Apple Store, published by All Luck Comics.
