In 1979, David Barclay got his first major break as an assistant puppeteer on THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, where he helped Frank Oz breath life into the state-of-the-art hand puppet audiences would come to know as YODA.
Following the completion of the STAR WARS sequel, Barclay worked on SESAME STREET as Oz’ understudy. He was soon drafted by Oz and Jim Henson into the production of one of the most ambitious and beloved puppet movies to date: THE DARK CRYSTAL.
In addition to Barclay’s long association with The Jim Henson Company on projects like FRAGGLE ROCK and LABYRINTH, Barclay has also been a principal puppeteer and creature workshop artist on a wide variety of films like RETURN OF THE JEDI, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, LOST IN SPACE, LOONEY TOONS BACK IN ACTION, THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN and WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT. More recently, Barclay’s puppetry was featured in Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE.
Barclay will be signing autographs and greeting fans at Big Apple Comic-Con October 16-18. Don’t miss your chance to meet this master puppeteer!
