Browncoat Big Damn Fan Films, Inc. (BDFF) is an all-volunteer grassroots organization which supports selected charities by creating films based in existing science fiction universes. Their recent independent film, Browncoats: Redemption, is set in the Firefly/Serenity universe created by Joss Whedon and follows a new crew in the aftermath of the events at the end of Serenity. Captain Laura Mathews and the crew of Redemption are thrown into a situation that some view as a potential catalyst for the second unified rise of the Independents against the Alliance since Unification Day. Browncoats: Redemption was made by fans for the fans, and all proceeds from the project are distributed to five charities supported and/or created by members of the cast and crew of Firefly and Serenity: Equality Now, Kids Need to Read, The Dyslexia Foundation, The Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. To date, BDFF has raised over $50,000 for charity. Visit www.browncoatsmovie.com for more information on their current project.
