|As a multi-talented, creator, writer and producer, Brian Pulido is known for his unique brand of edgy, pop cultural entertainment and merchandise. With a range that extends from comic books to animated and live action motion pictures, Pulido has captured the imagination and loyalty of legions of fans.|
His most recent and high profile project, “The Graves,” a feature film starring Tony Todd (CandyMan) and Bill Mosley (The Devil’s Rejects), was written and directed by Pulido and is coming to theaters Jan. 29, 2010 from After Dark Films (Horrorfest). Lionsgate, will release the DVD. SyFy will premiere The Graves in 2010. Internationally, The Graves has sold into a dozen countries – and counting.
Pulido wrote and produced Lady Death, an animated feature from ADV Films, based on the character he created, one of the most popular bad girl characters to ever hit comic book publishing. His award-winning short horror film, “Killer Gnome” (formerly “There’s Something Out There”), has played dozens of film festivals and has garnered eight wins worldwide. His music video, Calabrese’s “Voices of The Dead,” has exceeded 1.2 million views on YouTube.
As the President of Chaos! Comics, Pulido was the leading independent comic publisher of the 1990’s, with sales exceeding twenty million dollars and titles translated into eight languages. As creative director, Pulido won twelve international printing awards and oversaw hundreds of licensed items including action figures, statues, trading cards, posters, prints, barware and apparel.
Pulido has created and written hundreds of comic books including Lady Death, Evil Ernie, Purgatori and licensed comics including A Nightmare on Elm St., Chucky, Friday The 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He’s published licensed comics for WWE (Mankind, Undertaker, The Rock & Stone Cold Steve Austin) and movie brands including Universal’s The Mummy and Halloween.
Mischief Maker Studios, LLC, Pulido’s media company, represents the rights to ten comic book properties who’s combined sales have exceed ten million dollars. Mischief Maker also has several feature-length scripts ready for production.
Pulido received the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund’s Defender of Liberty award for his fundraising efforts in support of first amendment issues and is on the board of Directors for The Hero Initiative, a non-profit organization that raises funds for comic book veterans in need. He co-founded the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival in Phoenix, Arizona.
Pulido is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Motion Picture and Television Department.
