Creator Arthur Suydam’s artwork is most recently featured on covers for Marvel Zombies (Spike Scream Award for Best Comic), Black Panther, Ghost Rider, Hellstorm, Wolverine Origins, Marvel Zombies: Dead Days, the upcoming Marvel Zombies 2, and recently announced Moon Knight and Wolverine for Marvel. Suydam teams up with Dynamite Entertainment on the cult classic Army of Darkness and new crossover Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness, as well as Raise the Dead, Savage Tales and Red Sonja. Suydam’s covers for Savage Tales and Raise the Dead will be released as Dynamite Select posters in July.

Suydam’s own projects include Mudwogs and Mudwogs II, serialized through Heavy Metal, Bedtime Stories for the Incarcerated, Libby in the Lost World and Cholly & Flytrap, recently serialized through Image Comics and soon to be released as an animated feature through Paranoid Delusions, as well as a top secret zombies project for Dynamite that will feature Suydam’s own unique and fully-painted take on the undead. Though a life-long fan of comics, Suydam branches out with select projects that include film noir and gaming. Hard Case Crime, diehard publisher of pulp fiction, has worked with Suydam to provide retro-inspired covers for such titles as Mickey Spillane’s Dead Street, Robert Bloch’s Shooting Star and Fright by Cornell Woolrich. Recently, Eidos Interactive tapped Suydam to create fully-painted artwork for their Nintendo DS game Touch the Dead.

Recently chosen for inclusion in the Mammoth Book of Horror and Legends: The Art of Painted Comics (2008), Suydam’s artwork and writing appears in the gamut of groundbreaking publications including Heavy Metal, Penthouse Comix, House of Secrets, Epic Illustrated and National Lampoon, as well as international sci-fi and comic anthologies. He has also contributed to such titles as Batman, Conan, Tarzan, Predator, Aliens and Death Dealer, to name only a few, and his collected works have been featured in Visions: The Art of Arthur Suydam through Dark Horse Comics and Vanguard’s Fantastic Art of Arthur Suydam.

Recently honored with inclusion in Spectrum 14: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art (for which he was also honored with a Gold Award in Spectrum 12), in 2006, Suydam’s covers for “Marvel Zombies” earned him a Spike Scream Award for Best Comic Book. Other honors include the 2005 Dragon Con Comic Guest of Honor Award, the San Sebastian Film Festival Guest of Honor Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and numerous “fan favorite” awards on blogs and fansites across the world. Suydam is a member of the Society of Illustrators and lives and works in Manhattan’s East Village.
