|Andy Brase is an artist best known for his dark character, creature and cover illustrations done in his intense and unique inking style. |
His cover art has appeared on many comic books for companies including Dark Horse, IDW, Marvel, and Image Comics.
He has also done art in numerous other areas including RPG book art, album art, toy concept design, illustration for video game design, T-shirt design, card art, private commission art and personal work.
Andy’s “Dark Sun” cover art for IDW was nominated in 2012 for an award in Spectrum 19 (comic section)
His work has been featured several times in “Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art” and in the Spectrum Exhibition at the Museum of American Illustration in New York City.
Andy’s art is also featured on the site “Masters in Print. Com” along with other well-known sci-fi artists including H.R. Giger.
In comics Andy is known for his detailed cover illustrations on titles including Dark Sun (D&D), Robert E. Howard’s Kull, Hulk, Daredevil, Black Panther, Titans, The Darkness, The Victorian, Identity Disc, Squadron Supreme, Marvel Knights 4 and more.
He has done art for many RPG game companies too, including Wizards of the Coast, White Wolf, Fantasy Flight, etc.
For DC Direct, Andy has worked on toy designs and character concepts. A Vampire design he worked on was used and appeared in the new DC comic “FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E.”
His art has appeared in album art for the industrial band Combichrist (who toured with Rammstein)
Recently Andy has done book covers for George R. R. Martin, including a new pressing of Martin’s werewolf horror story called “The Skin Trade”
He has also done new art for Valiant Comics, including a cover for Bloodshot #2 that was just announced and due out in Aug. 2012
Several other projects are in the works (which can’t be announced yet).
Andy also has his own personal project called “Chaos Destiny,” which is set in a dark fantasy, alien world and planned to be published as an illustrative concept artbook. Some of the work from this project has already been featured in “Spectrum”, and in Andy’s first published artbook “Exorcism.”
Along with his cover work Andy has done many elaborate private commission ink drawings for art collector.
Several of these works have gathered quite a bit of attention and inspired many fan arts and tattoos designs based on them.

In 2013 Andy is drawing new cover art for DC’s “Swamp Thing,” among other new projects. Starting with Swamp Thing #19 (April 2013).
